Utility Information Specialist - Utilities / Building Systems

SUMMARY

Assists with the development, implementation and monitoring of engineering and operational information for all sites managed by the division in the support of the Facilities Information Management (FIM) strategic plan.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Utility system information input and validation Assists with field observation, data collection and analysis for improving the quality of information available on master existing condition records. Collaborates with business associates, internal operations and engineering teams to validate managed utility information. Ensures data quality through the evaluation of content and integration with facilities data sources.

Utility system information mapping and management Responsible for the development of utility mapping plans through collaboration with building owners and engineering staff. Implements the requirements of Facilities Information Management objectives. Applies advanced design software features to develop and maintain master existing condition drawings. Utilities may include but are not limited to: Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Medical Gases, Fire life safety, pneumatic tubes/trash systems, and include riser diagrams and floor plans with details and images to show system function and management as well as to capture data necessary for regulatory preparedness.

Specialty reports and system drawing development and maintenance Supports key areas of the institution with specialty reports and drawings based on master and project information as well as field observations. Maintains life safety information contained in specialty drawings that support operational objectives to meet regulatory requirements. Reporting includes managing and tracking library entries for existing drawings for uniform updates as well as timelines for creating new entries.

Evaluation and integration of project information Applies advanced and diversified knowledge of engineering and construction for quality control and analysis of project records and for data collection related to Facilities Information Management objectives, compliance needs and quality improvement activities.

Supports business and information standards Assists in the development and refinement of departmental plans, policies and procedures. Serves as a resource for information on compliance needs with accrediting bodies, regulatory agencies and professional standards. Functions as a primary contact for utility information on assigned sites.

High school diploma or equivalent. Eight years of commercial engineering design experience and or experience with commercial facilities operations.
